The secondary school is one of the schools of the Group of Schools (AESJT – Agrupamento de Escolas de São João da Talha), established in the academic year 2010-2011, formed by four schools in the primary education, all with pre-schools, one primary school with 5th to 9th grades and a secondary school with 9th grade to secondary, professional and vocational education. For 1934 students from preschool through secondary has 202 teachers, 64 auxiliary educational activities staff.

It is situated in the village of São João da Talha in the suburbs of Lisbon. It is an urban village, where single-family dwellings or housing estates horizontal kind prevail. It has about 17,252 inhabitants (2011’ census), spread over several neighbour hoods, mostly illegal genesis. A small industry and trade are the dominant sectors.
