In Service Stem Basic Level Course and Arduino Courses
Under Sarıyer District National Education Directorate’s coordination , we are carrying out an Erasmus Plus Strategic Partnership project which is one of the Stem project on Scientix (http://www.scientix.eu/projects/project-detail?articleId=720148) .As activities of our Erasmus project we have organized In service Teacher Training courses.
For the purpose of promoting Our Erasmus+ Project, and Stem Education Approach among our teachers and schools we have organized two Stem Basic Level Courses and Arduino Courses in Sarıyer/İstanbul. Total 125 primary /secondary and high school teachers involved in these courses. Thanks to scientix project we had opportunity to present many resources to participant teachers as well as introducing Scientix platform and its advantages for the teachers who wants to implement STEM education approach and Stem activities.
After presenation of the STEM approach to teachers we encouraged them to be a part of our project volunteers and they decided to work with us during our pilot implementation. During our training we have also informed them regarding STEM Discovery Week and encouraged them to add their Stem activities to the Stem Discovery Week Map.
Moreover,During the Courses we have showed sample lesson plans, the inquiry Based Teaching, Problem Based teaching and Project Based Teaching have been presented . The participants teachers were divided into the groups and the groups were supposed to preapre their own lesson plans and produce a project. At the end of the week teachers presented their lesson plans and projects to others.
As we know to opening minds to Stem , we should motivate and show them role models to teachers, By the help of the contribution of our stakeholders, supporters and volunteers we emphasized on 21 st Century skills and how important role we have as 21st Century ‘s teachers. To empower their teaching styles and to raise their Stem awareness, we have invited the experts who can be role model for Stem careers.
